Boko Haram terrorist attacks: A possible lasting solution

By Benedict Musyimi

A dangerous attack last week by Boko Haram in Nigeria’s north-eastern capital of Borno state, Maiduguri left at least 16 people dead and many more, including children who were playing football in a field, according to the local militia.

Attacks by the Jihadist terrorist group are usually prevented by the Nigerian security forces through very fierce combat. It’s reported that the jihadists fired grenades on places where people live on Tuesday.

The group also caused a power blackout by cutting electricity, blowing up water and supply lines for Maiduguri residents.

The deadly attack was done using an explosive device which according to BBC is rocket-propelled grenades. The local officials describe this as a new way of Boko Haram attacks.

Maiduguri, which has a population of 802,988 according to the World Population Review has been left in darkness for almost a month (the local governor’s office statement).

Maiduguri is also home to several internally displaced Nigerians who were forced to seek refuge in other areas due to military operations against the militant group.

The Islamic view of education

Education is not only the right but the duty of every Muslim, male or female

The best gift from a father to his child is education and upbringing (Source: At-Tirmidhi Hadith Collection).

Knowledge cannot be acquired with sloth. (Source: Muslim Hadith Collection).

The Islamic view of western education (by scholars)

Iqbal Allama Muhammad, a philosopher, and scholar shares what he thinks is the risk of Islamic nations accepting western culture and education. He says,

  • Modern knowledge is the greatest blind
  • Idol-making idol selling, idol-worshipping!
  • Shackled in the prison-house of phenomena,
  • It has not overleaped the limits of the sensible! Iqbal (1944)

Syed Muhammad al Naquib bin Ali al-Attas, a Malaysian Muslim philosopher points out that the purpose of western “secular education” in Muslim societies is to de-Islamize Muslim minds by, “The dissemination of the basic essentials of the Western worldview” Al-Attas (1978)

Boko Haram means Western education is forbidden

The group is fighting to overthrow the nigerian

The group has another portion of it, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), which emerged in 2016 and has also become a dangerous threat, attacking soldiers and bases at the same time killing and kidnapping passengers. The group is led by Abu Musab al-Barnawi.

Both Boko Haram and ISWAP’s main goal is to establish Nigeria as a Sharia law Islamic state and avenge Mohammed Yusuf’s death on the Nigerian government.

Boko Haram has killed approximately 36,000 people and displaced millions since it started in 2009. This has extended to Nigeria’s neighbouring countries of Chad, Niger, and Cameroon. (Source: Africa News).

Boko Haram was declared an Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist organisation by the United Nations in 2014

The reason why is Western education is forbidden is that it is not Islamic and corrupt according to Mohammed Yusuf, the founder of Boko Haram.

Mohamed Yusuf, the Boko Haram was killed in police custody in 2009

Nigeria’s jihadist group Boko Haram is fighting to create an Islamic state. To achieve this, they are fighting to overthrow the Nigerian government.

The Killing of Mohammed Yusuf must be made public. The reason why he was killed and the events that led to his killing should be made clear.

Combating national enemies in countries should be the key UN agenda in the modern world. It should be added as the 18th United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG”s).

If this group is not taken care of now that it’s time, then the United Nations will have failed in its mandate to protect humanity and we can be assured of another world war because the Boko Haram militia is lighting matches in many countries.

The group has caused terror in Nigeria which is Africa’s most populated for many years. They do that through killings of people through bombings campaigns, attacks, and even abduction of girls among other evil ways as they wish.

We need to know which part of the Nigerian government laws are not in line with the Islamic religion and talk about them.

Boko Haram will keep killing the police in any country because to them all police are evil since they killed their leader Mohammed Yusuf.

The Boko Haram group feels the Muslims are neglected and so the attacks are a means of expressing themselves and that they need to be acknowledged.

The Nigerian government should plan to talk to the Jihadi militants and find a way to stop the wars and hence stop the killing of innocent people. If the militants do not agree to talk and stop fighting, the government should take strategic action towards the Jihadi militants because as it is, the country is taking it slow due to the fear that by stopping the Boko Haram, they will be causing more deaths in the country. They should destroy this group once and for all. They should seek help from other countries if that is going to help.

The UN should help Nigeria to fight Boko Haram instead of just condemning the terror attacks and deaths of people. The group should be declared a national disaster in the country.

What the Jihadi militant Muslims need to know about worship

You cannot force people to worship the God you worship. People follow the person you become as you worship your favourite God. They need to stop fighting to overthrow the government of Nigeria because that is a clear indication that whoever they profess is not helping them to be the people they need to be; responsible, human, and caring people who use their brains well. God does not force others to follow him.

Worship is not a cult where people join hands to believe in something. Worship is a personal responsibility for everyone. Worship is voluntary, a decision that flows out of willingness.
