Harry Kane’s trophy drought could end under Vincent Kompany at Bayern Munich
England captain Harry Kane’s hopes to end his trophy drought with Vincent Kompany as Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany. This is according to Germany legend, former professional player and manager and football pundit Lothar Matthaus. Despite scoring 36 Bundesliga goals in his first season at Bayern, the team finished a disappointing third behind champions Bayer Leverkusen.
Following the departure of Thomas Tuchel, Kompany, who led Burnley to Premier League relegation, took over as boss at Bayern. Matthaus, a legendary figure in German football, believes that Kompany’s influence could be the catalyst for Kane to finally win a major trophy.
“I don’t think he’ll score 36 goals again,” Matthaus told BBC Sport. “”But perhaps he will not need to. He will be motivated this year with a new coach, with a new team, with a new spirit.”
Kane will lead the line for Bayern as they kick off their Bundesliga campaign against Wolfsburg on Sunday.
