Progress is something I have to remind myself constantly. No matter where you are at right now, do not discredit how far you’ve come.
It’s easy to get so focused on what we want and the end result that we never really acknowledge the progress we’ve already made or celebrate our wins along the way.
Maybe like me, you have struggled with your mental health over the past year, but you are proud of yourself for making it through. Celebrate that! Or maybe you didn’t get the promotion you were really hoping for, but you know that you show up as your best self and are great at your job – celebrate anyway.
If we choose to spend our energy focusing on PROGRESS over perfection, naturally we’ll find ourselves moving further faster because we are no longer standing in our own way.
The most important thing to remember is that experiencing a set back does not undo progress that has already been made.
In fact, progress requires setbacks. It’s then that we pick ourselves back up and learn something new that will equip us in the future to more effectively move forward. 🙌🏻
Gratitude is a way for people to appreciate what they have instead of always reaching for something new in the hopes it will make them happier, or thinking they can’t feel satisfied until every physical and material need is met. Gratitude helps people refocus on what they have instead of what they lack. And, although it may feel contrived at first, this mental state grows stronger with use and practice. ~ Havard University
