Christine Adhiambo, a small business entrepreneur in Kibera slum has faced numerous challenges in her life, stemming primarily from her difficult family circumstances. Her childhood was marred by abuse, a heartbreaking experience that continues to shape her journey amidst adversity.
Removed from school so that her siblings could continue their education, Christine felt neglected and unimportant in her family and community. At her rural home, her own grandmother disowned her, citing her impaired vision as a reason.
The abuse inflicted by her father left deep emotional scars, compounded by physical violence and threats on her life. Despite these hardships, Christine has found resilience through her small business in Nairobi’s Kibera slum, where she sells grains such as beans and rice to sustain herself.
Looking to expand her small business, Christine seeks support from well-wishers who can provide her with opportunities for growth. She believes in her potential to thrive if given the chance.
In addition to her entrepreneurial efforts, Christine is a leader in Hands of Mercy, a group advocating for disability awareness in Kibera. She actively participates in community advocacy programs, striving to make a positive impact despite her personal challenges.
Christine also hopes to learn Braille to enhance her independence, appealing for assistance from individuals and organizations willing to support her in this endeavor.
